Congratulations to all band students on a fantastic fall concert!
Advanced Band students get to march in the Halloween Parade with the Niwot High School Jazz Band coming up on Oct. 29th! Here are some details for the event: When: Saturday, Oct. 29th @ 10am Where: Longmont's Roosevelt Park, meet near the Memorial Building (there are lots of bands and kids in costume, so it's a little tricky finding the right group. We'll try to have the Niwot HS banner to help.) Report time: 9:20 a.m. in costume * Students are welcome to join in the section costume ideas with the high schoolers or wear their own. Make sure students are able to comfortably walk and play their instrument in their costumes! * Don't bring your instrument cases - we have nowhere to securely stash them. It would be best to assemble instruments in the car before being dropped off at the parade start. * Drink water before the parade (hydrate) and eat a good breakfast. You will need energy! Fundraising Opportunities! The Sunset Music Department is hosting three “Dine to Donate” nights at Texas Roadhouse in order to raise money for guest musicians and transportation for our field trips to the Colorado Symphony and Elitch Gardens. Mark your calendars for November 1! Fliers with a specific barcode are needed in order for money to be donated - ask your student for the flier or click the links above! If you can’t make it to Texas Roadhouse, donate directly to the band program here.

It’s concert week! Please read through the reminders below carefully. Students have been getting lots of reminders in class, so please ask your student to tell you what they need to be prepared for the concert. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Concerts are a required part of our band classes and we’re excited to showcase all that we have learned and prepared so far this year!

Band Shirts were handed out to all students on Tuesday and Wednesday. These shirts are part of everyone’s concert uniform. In addition to the band shirt, students must wear black pants/long black skirt, black socks and all black shoes. Please let me know if you need any assistance obtaining an appropriate concert uniform for your student. Our concert is a special event and it’s important that our students look their best! Free extra music opportunity! CU Boulder hosts a program called the Middle School Ensembles program (MSE) and registration is free of charge this year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to get more music experience and meet new music friends. Click here for more information. Fundraising Opportunities!
