About the Sunset MS Band Program
With a long tradition of excellence, the Sunset Middle School Band program is a vibrant and comprehensive program that offers a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. The Sunset MS Band program consists of Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, & Jazz Band. In addition to performing in large ensembles, students in the Sunset Band program have the opportunity to perform in a variety of small ensembles from classical and contemporary chamber groups to jazz combos.
The Sunset Band program is fortunate to have a supportive parent community, dedicated faculty and staff, motivated and energetic students, and also great elementary schools that help feed our program.
Participation in the Sunset Middle School Band program is open to anyone who possesses a desire and commitment necessary to learn and perform music. Whatever you are passionate about, we have a place for you in the Sunset Band program!

About Ms. Cort
Ms. Madeleine Cort is thrilled to be the Director of Bands at Sunset Middle School. Before coming to Sunset MS, she taught instrumental music (including band, guitar, piano, and other music classes) at Clear Creek Middle/High School in Evergreen, CO. Ms. Cort believes in helping students to succeed and develop a lifelong love of music.
Ms. Cort received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master of Music degree in Music Education from Colorado State University. She continues to look towards innovations in teaching and learning. In addition to her full teaching schedule, she regularly performs with the Longmont Concert Band and B-Flatirons Clarinet Quartet. Ms. Cort currently lives in Longmont, CO with her significant other, Alex, and two cats, Sophie (white and grey) and Kit (brown). In her spare time, Ms. Cort enjoys video games, hiking, skiing, yoga, and spending with loved ones. |
